Network + Infrastructure
As a company, Ednetics has explored many facets of information technology that would be of interest in the education space. We have approached these areas with a background in networking. Our core has always been the network. Because networking is in our DNA, the adoption of network convergence has been a natural step in our evolution. The foundation for a great technology program is a well-designed network. It is the flexible foundation that meets current infrastructure requirements while anticipating future needs.
Design considerations should include: intended use, resiliency, reliability, performance, potential expansion, redundancy and integrated security. Opportunities to utilize the data network for voice and video applications are increasing demands on hardware and design. Ednetics’ experience and expertise in network design for academic environments helps us make thoughtful recommendations that lower operational expenses and create a flexible foundation for a dynamic technology program.

Security
Ednetics approach is pervasive security throughout the network. Every part of the network and all devices that utilize the network contain elements of security. Security is maintained at every level while allowing easy authorized access and use. We look at device security, security at the network closet, IT management and policy control. Security should protect the entire infrastructure, not just the edge.
• Pervasive security throughout network
• Easy authorized access
• Protect entire infrastructure
Virtualization
The ability to consolidate infrastructure and streamline technology management through the use of virtualization makes sense in academic settings. Virtualization allows for multiple servers, multiple operating systems and multiple applications on a single server platform. Virtualization uses the server platform to allocate resources to where they are being utilized. This reduces power consumption and improves performance. School technology directors with the endless rotation of users and versions of software find the centralized policy-based management a welcome model. A secure, fluid environment that focuses resources and empowers users is the strength of virtualization.
Wireless
Ednetics’ methodical approach to wireless network design begins with a site survey. Our wireless specialized engineers evaluate the site using strict criteria and exacting standards. The results are a predictable excellent outcome. The onsite survey includes a thorough analysis and documentation and is an important step in determining the correct design for maximum performance with minimal waste.
