FCC Cybersecurity Window Announced:

Applications must be submitted between 8 a.m ET on September 17, 2024, and 11:59 p.m. ET on November 1, 2024. Read the full notice here> Interested applicants must complete Part 1 of FCC Form 484 to outline your cybersecurity needs and plans for utilizing the funding. FCC Cybersecurity Pilot Program

Enhance the cybersecurity infrastructure of your educational institution or library with the FCC Schools and Libraries Cybersecurity Pilot Program. This initiative offers up to $200 million in funding over three years to support a wide range of cybersecurity services and equipment.

Purpose and Goals: The Pilot Program aims to evaluate the effectiveness of using Universal Service funding to protect school and library broadband networks and data from cyber threats. This initiative is modeled after the successful FCC Connected Care Pilot Program.

Who qualifies?

Schools, libraries, and consortia that meet the E-Rate criteria. No need to be a former E-Rate participant.

What’s Covered?

Advanced/Next Generation Firewalls, Identity and Endpoint Protection, Authentication, Monitoring, Detection and Response. 

The Application Process

The process involves two parts: initially providing general information and project, and if selected submitting detailed information about your current cybersecurity posture and challenges . 

The Selection Criteria

The FCC will include a mix of large and small, urban and rural schools and libraries, with a special emphasis on low-income and Tribal applicants.

To-do

  • FCC Registration: Obtain or locate your FCC Registration Number (FRN)
  • Billed Enity Number (BEN): Create a user profile in the E-Rate Productivity Center
  • Financial Standing: Verify that you are not in the red light status with the FCC
  • SAM.gov Registration: Register with the System for Award Management (SAM.gov) to receive funds from the Program. This may take 10-20 days for registration to become active.
